Srinagar: The Army on Tuesday foiled a major infiltration bid by terrorists to sneak into Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
Suspicious movement of about eight to nine persons was noticed in the area between the LoC and fencing in Furkian gali in Kupwara, a Defence spokesman said.
On being challenged, the terrorists opened fire which was retaliated.
"Heavy casualty is expected on the militant side. However, the operation is still in progress as intermittent exchange of firing is going on," the spokesman said.
