Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad CBI court on Thursday granted bail to jailed former IPS officer DG Vanzara in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case. The bail has been granted on the condition that he will not enter Gujarat.
Vanzara, who is one of the accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh, Tulsiram Prajapati and Ishrat Jahan encounter cases, resigned from the police force in September, 2013 after alleging that then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi protected his close aide and now BJP President Amit Shah at the cost of the police officers.
Vanzara said that he decided to quit from the service because the Gujarat government ditched him and other police officers in the encounter cases.
Responding to the latest development, his brother said, "I'm happy that you won't find an officer fighting against terrorism. It's a victory of truth through it may have taken 8 years. There is no plan for him to enter into politics."
