New Delhi: The global police agency Interpol on Sunday asked India to share DNA profiles obtained in the aftermath of Mumbai attacks so that these could be compared with genetic fingerprints provided by Pakistan.
Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble says the Mumbai attackers had links to seven different countries and the Interpol is working with Pakistan to expose those links.
The Interpol would compare the DNA profiles of those accused in Mumbai attacks against a global database.
Already, Pakistan's FIA has established links with seven countries, including India, countries in the heart of Europe and the Middle East. All of this information is being checked in Interpol's global database to determine what other international links may exist.
The head of global police agency Interpol met Pakistan's Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik on Friday as part of an investigation into the Mumbai attacks, which India has blamed on Pakistani extremists.
Ronald Noble held talks with Malik, who has been leading Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts, the interior ministry said in a statement.
