India gives a lot of importance to its deeply rooted culture. Owing to its diversity, every small village and district in the country is known for its culture and festivals. Recently, a palm festival was held in Tamil Nadu. As per reports, a large number of people were seen participating in this festival. It was jointly organised by Panangadu and the Tamil Nadu Palmist Protection Movement in the Poorikudisai area near Villupuram. Locals at the festival were seen selling palm products, organising food and handicrafts exhibitions as well.
According to reports, the highly popular palm festival started with more than 100 palmists from the entire village walking the streets with huge drum beaters and cymbals, singing folk songs and humming tunes. The festival is celebrated to create awareness about the protection of palm trees. The festival attracted a lot of people from the nearby villages as well. Those who participated in the palm festival were spotted eating palm salads. The festival also featured beauty products that were made from palm trees and natural seeds. These products were attracting a lot of people who wanted to use natural products for them.
In order to create awareness of using natural products made up of palm trees, a seminar was also conducted by the organisers, in order to make people understand the uses and types of beauty products. Those who participated in the event insisted that palm trees should reach everyone and that people should try to understand the importance of using palm trees and their products in Tamil Nadu. The people of the area said that the palm festival is held for the first time in India in Poorikudisai . This will set an example for everyone to make food and cosmetics from palm tree products, which will also help boost the economy.
