THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Idea Cellular, India’s third largest mobile operator, has extended its 3G services to Thiruvananthapuram and Nedumangad. Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur, Malapuram, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kollam have the 3G facility already. Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Dinesh Arora flagged off Idea’s 3G services in the capital by making a video call to Dr Sachidananda Kamath, president of IMA, Kochi. The company has already added over 2 lakh 3G subscribers in Kerala, said a press note issued by Idea.  Speaking about the 3G expansion in the circle, Ramakrishna B, COO - Kerala, Idea Cellular, said: "Post the launch in these two cities, Idea subscribers will get an opportunity to experience high-end data services such as Video Conferencing, Idea Mall Application Store, Mobile TV, Video on Demand, and high-speed Internet Browsing with ease and convenience of use at affordable rates.”  Idea’s national 3G footprint now covers over 400 towns and is progressively growing at the rate of 10 towns per day to cover 750 towns by mid-2011 and 4,000 towns by March 2012.
