Three well-known hotels in Bengaluru reportedly received emails threatening a bomb blast. Authorities have sounded a high alert in the city.
The police said that bomb disposal and detection teams were deployed at the spot after getting information about the emails.
A report in IANS quoted police sources as saying that the email claimed that the bomb would explode in the wee hours of Wednesday around 2 am. The threatening email was discovered on Thursday morning when the hotel staff opened the official email account.
Recently, bomb threats were made to prestigious schools in Bengaluru, raising concerns among parents and the authorities.
Following the Rameshwaram cafe bomb blast and the arrest of suspected bombers who revealed that they wanted to target software companies and techies in Bengaluru, the authorities have become increasingly vigilant.
This also comes day after the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Delhi’s North Block received an email threat about a bomb. The threat was subsequently declared a hoax after nothing objectionable was found.
In the past few weeks, bomb threat emails have been received by many establishments in the national capital, including schools and hospitals.
Delhi’s Chacha Nehru Hospital received a bomb threat on April 30 while more than 150 schools got threats from a Russia-based mailing service company on May 1.
Twenty hospitals, the IGI Airport and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in Delhi received bomb threats through emails from a Cyprus-based mailing service company on May 12.
Seven Delhi hospitals and the Tihar Jail received bomb threats from the same Cyprus-based mailing service company on May 14.
