BANGALORE: “Lalbagh is my lifeline. I start my day with a visit to Lalbagh, where I meet a minimum of 500 people every day. The greenery and oxygen keeps me fresh, and free from all worries. I believe ‘A visit to Lalbabh everyday, keeps the doctor away’.I think Lalbabh is the only park where there are a variety of species and looking at them makes me feel happy. Did you know there is a 200-year-old white silk-cotton tree at the park? The employees here are aware and well-trained to maintain the plants. I thank the chief ministers, who were interested in the development of Lalbagh and sanctioned funds for the same. The only disappointment is the apathy of horticultural department officials. These officials, who are supposed to work hard for the development of Lalbagh, never bother to prove their mettle. We can see a number of hawkers selling their wares inside the park. Selling eatables here is banned but the hawkers continue their business without any hassles. I suspect that the authorities receive some money in return for allowing them to sell anything from groundnuts to masala poories. I think it is time for the authorities to pull up their socks and do something.
