One day after a suspicious boat from Iran was spotted off the Kerala Coast late on Sunday night and 12 crew members were taken into custody, the state government has said that it is "verifying all facts".
Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that the government is still verifying all of the facts and also mulling handing over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Chennithala said it was a matter of grave concern how the ship reached near the Kerala coast.
Notably, a Pakistan identity card and a Thuraya satellite communication set were recovered from the vessel. The Indian coast guard has said that the vessel is likely to be involved in the transfer of high value contraband.
Meanwhile, the crew members claim their vessel was damaged.
