The bitfilm festival organised in the city saw Indian filmakers shining out at the event as Kadi Medidi from Arena Animation Institute, Hyderabad won the Bitfilm Festival 2011 award in the 3D-space (computer-generated 3D animation) category for his short film, Feel the Punch, on December 2 carried out by the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan in collaboration with the Srishti School of art, design and technology, under the banner of ‘Germany and India 2011 -2012: Infinite Opportunities.’ The global Bitfilm audiences chose the winners through an online vote. The event had three winners out of which two were german filmakers and one Indian. Alexander Gellner from Berlin won the FX MIX (digitally composed hybrid films) award for his short film One Minute Puberty, and his compatriot Philipp Scheifelbein from Frankfurt picked the Machinima (films shot live in computer games/virtual worlds) award for his Tales of Crusade.Sripathi Bakam conceptualised the whole story of Feel the Punch. The story portrayed a mirthful situation with typical Indian masala, where a boy in his struggle to impress a beautiful Indian girl in a bus stop showed his credit cards to avoid a beggar to avoid him. However, the beggar soon presented a swipe machine. The whole team was delighted on winning an award at an international arena. They said, “ We are privileged that we were given a chance to showcase our talent and we take pride in mentioning that Feel the Punch has had eight and half lakh youtube hits so far and it ranks 85 out of 100.One minute puberty is a film put up with style and technology and a very creative portrayal of a person attaining puberty. On the other hand Tales of Crusade is about Alisa, a female knight, who is looking for her sister and her journey for the quest of her sister.This is the twelfth year in a row, the Bitfilm Festival presented such awards . He said, “ We are extremely happy at the turnout and we are planning to make it a regural affair at least once a every year in Bangalore.” The three categories that were screened were, 3D Space: entirely computer-generated films made with 3D animation software, FX MIX Films which mix various techniques digitally, eg 3D animation, 2D animation and live action, etc
