BANGALORE: There was a time when you had to run from pillar to post to obtain a birth/death certificate. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has now made the certificates available next door. BBMP, which had already initiated the facility of obtaining birth/death certificates online at BBMP centres, is now extending the same to all the BangaloreOne centres.
BBMP had introduced online birth/death certificates in January 2010 . The online registration process of the BBMP includes obtaining a free copy of a digitally signed certificate. There are 48 registration centres across the city, including 37 Member of Health (MOH) offices, six BBMP referral hospitals and five major government hospitals. Now, the same facility will be made available at all the 70 BangaloreOne centres. "BBMP has already signed Memorandum of Understanding with BangaloreOne. We are looking for a date for inauguration where Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be present," B Shankarappa Joint Director (Statistics) said.
