FIR against IPS trainee

CHENNAI: The Anti-Dowry Cell of the Central Crime Branch in Egmore registered an FIR against IPS trainee V Varun Kumar for offences under various sections of the IPC, TN Prohibition of Women Harassment Act and Information Technology Act, the Madras High Court was informed on Friday.When the petition from G Priyadarshini, which prayed for a direction to register a case on her complaint, came up on Friday, Additional Public Prosecutor M Maharaja told Justice S Nagamuthu that the FIR was registered against Varun Kumar, his father Veerasekaran and mother Kalpana on April 26. Recording the submission, the judge dismissed the petition as it had become infructuous.In her complaint dated December 9 last year to the City Police Commissioner, Priyadarshini submitted that Varun Kumar cheated her after loving her, introducing her as his fiance and promising to marry her.
