New Delhi: World No. 1 Roger Federer dropped his first set of the tournament but that was a minor blip as he crushed ninth seed Tommy Robredo in the quarter-final of the French Open.
Federer won a tight first set but then Spaniard Robredo fought back to take the second with two breaks of serve.
That pumped up the top gun and he lost just three of the next 12 games to take the match 7-5, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 in over two hours.
Federer is now in his third straight French Open semis and this is the one Grand Slam he has never won.
Meanwhile, the surprise package in the French Open so far, fourth seed Russian Nikolay Davydenko took a bit more than two hours to take out Guillermo Canas in straight sets to reach the semi-final.
After clawing through the first set 7-5 in 76 minutes, Davydenko stepped up the gas to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-4, to book a dream date with Federer in the semi-finals at the Roland Garros.
