Fearing violence, Centre asks states to be vigilant on counting day

New Delhi: Anticipating violence and tension in sensitive regions of the country on vote counting day, the Home Ministry on Thursday sent out an alert to all states asking them to extra vigilant and prevent any communal tension.

Sources in the Ministry claimed that the advisory was sent after the recent instances of violence in Meerut and Hyderabad.

The alert asked the police and the state government to be vigilant since attempts could me made to cause tension in the heated political environment.
