KOCHI: The valedictory function of ‘Environment Month’ organised by the Carborundum Universal Ltd as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme, will be held at the Carborundum Recreation Hall on Friday.The scheme ‘environment month’ observed from June 5 to July 5 was led by the Rajagiri Educational and Community Alternatives and Community Health Service Society.As part of the CSR programme, waste treatment plants were set up in the four divisions of Kalamassery municipality and education aid was extended to deserving students. A personality development centre was also opened for children. The projects were launched by Kalamassery municipal chairman Jamal Manakkadan on December 10, 2010. Distribution of environment awards, education aid and organic fertilisers, and screening of a film on Right to Information Act have also been organised. Carborundum Universal Ltd senior vice-president N Anantha Sekharan will preside over the function. Kalamassery municipal chairman Jamal Manakkadan will inaugurate the function. Environmentalist Seetharaman will deliver keynote address. Rajagiri College director Fr Antony Kariyil CMI will give away the awards. Kalamassery municipal councillors K A Siddique, K A Riyas, Roshni Babu Salim Puthuvana and Jessy Peter will speak.
