Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Bangalore in association with the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) inaugurated a 6-day Buyer-Seller Meet at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Kalyana Mantapam in Himayat Nagar. The exhibition was started with an aim to provide a market and support the powerloom fabric manufacturers across the country and promote these powerloom fabric manufacturers in the decentralised sector. Over 26 participants from Kolkata, Varanasi, Chennai, Shigri, Salem, Muthur, Erode, Mumbai and many other places had put their stalls on display. Goods like Varanasi silk sarees and scarfs, Bengali cottons, sarees from Chennai and Erode, among others were on display.One of the participants at the meer, Pramod Yadav, from Silk International says, “We attend about 10-12 such exhibitions every year, a few in the south and a few in Punjab, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Mumbai. Business part is fine, but we have to ship our own stuff to these places and pay about `5,000 for five days as rent.” Kantilal Dand, IAS, director of handlooms and textiles, government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the meet. T Balakumar, deouty director, regional office of the textile commisioner, Bangalore, KC Ganeshan, PCDC convenor, PDEXIL, Sivannarayana, assitant diretcor, powerloom service were also present.The Buyer-Seller Meet will ne hedl from Mrach 21 to 26 at the TTD Kalyana Mantapam in Himayat Nagar.
