PATHANAMTHITTA: PWD Minister V K Ebrahimkunju said on Friday that the draft project report on the proposed Ernakulam-Sabarimala highway would be ready in three months. Talking to newsmen here, after presiding over the review meeting of the PWD officials on the maintenance of Sabarimala roads, Ebrahimkunju said that the Highway Research Institute, which was entrusted with the task of preparation of the draft project report, was asked to complete the task in two months. “The government made a budgetary provision of Rs 2 crore for the proposed Ernakulam-Sabarimala highway project,” the minister said.He said that the maintenance work on all Sabarimala roads would be completed by November 10.Ebrahimkunju said that repair work on 285.45 km of the 307.86-km Sabarimala roads in Pathanamthitta was completed till date. “In the case of 328.84 km of Sabarimala-connected roads, the work on 215.45 km was already completed,” he said.The minister said that tendering process for the four important Sabarimala roads and a bridge would begin on November 21. Ebrahimkunju said that the work on the second phase of the KSTP project would be launched in 2013. “For the funds, the State Government held discussions with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB),” he said. “For the Tiruvalla by-pass, in case of delay in funding from the World Bank or the ADB, the government would go in for a budgetary support for the project,” the minister said.
