New Delhi: Electricity tariff has been increased in the Delhi by the regulatory body. Announcing the hike, Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission said that the increase will be 8.32 per cent for all three discoms (BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, BSES Yamuna Power Limited and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited).
In the New Delhi Municipal Corporation area, the power tariff hike will be 9.52 per cent.
Power Purchase Cost Adjustment Charges has been removed, so those consuming up to 800 units are likely to see a fall in their monthly electricity bill. But those who consume over 800 units will see a hike.
Since PPAC has been removed hence there will not be any effective hike in tariff. For the next 3 months there will not be PPAC and after that a review would be done in October.
If DERC finds a need for PPAC then that would be done. So if there is a hike it will be effective only in November. For the next three months there is no effective hike for those who consume up to 800 units.
DERC Chairperson PD Sudhakar claimed that the hike is marginal and the effect will be very minimal on domestic consumers. "Fixed charges remain unchanged. We will get power from an 'ultra-mega power project' in Madhya Pradesh. We are also introducing a new slab of 800-1200 units," said Sudhakar.
