THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A jubilant CPM and the Left camp are making every effort to turn the release of M V Jayarajan, who was granted bail by the Supreme Court, from jail on Wednesday a remarkable event.Though some cadres assembled in front of the Poojappura Central Jail here on Tuesday where Jayarajan has been lodged, they dispersed as it became clear that the formalities for his release will take a day’s time to complete.The bail amount of Rs 10,000 has to be deposited in the High Court and the Sessions or the Magistrate Court here has to receive orders for the release of Jayarajan, which will then be passed on to jail authorities. CPM leaders P K Sreemathi and Anathalavattom Anandan visited Jayarajan in the jail on Tuesday after the news of his bail came in.Prominent leaders of the CPM were away in Kozhikode in connection with the formation of the reception committee for the party congress, scheduled to be held there in February next year.Sreemathi told mediapersons waiting outside the jail that Jayarajan kept his cool when he was informed about the news, since it was on expected lines. Jayarajan was taken from the High Court last week to the Central Prison here, soon after he was sentenced to six months imprisonment in a contempt of court case.The High Court didn’t allow his plea to file a bail petition, though a system is in vogue if the sentence period is less than three years, and insisted that he shall be sent to jail immediately. His entry to the jail was cheered by tens of thousands of cadres of the CPM and feeder organisations, who lined up along the road to Thiruvananthapuram.According to plans, after his release from jail, Jayarajan will be led to the AKG Centre here with much fanfare. Then he will proceed to his native Kannur. CPM is making every effort to derive maximum political mileage in the emerging situation.
