KOCHI: The city police have decided to back the District Administration’s decision to shift the North bus bays to facilitate the construction work of the Metro Rail Project. As part of the move, the police have decided to set up the bus bays at a site 100 metre away from the current location. The bus stop will be set up in front of the petrol bunk for buses coming from Kaloor. Buses coming from the Kacheripady side would be diverted through the Paramara Road and a bus stop will be set up there. “There will not be any traffic congestion with the shifting of the North bus bays. The new bus bay will come up within a few days,” said Muhammad Rafique, Assistant Commissioner, Traffic police. However, the Kochi Corporation has not been intimated about the district administration’s decision, said Mayor Tony Chammany. He refused to comment when asked about the proposal. “They have not informed us about the proposal and the visit,” he said.
