BANGALORE: City Express had published a report titled ‘One road, many problems’ on July 4 citing the various issues on Miller’s Road that caused an inconvenience to the commuters and the general public. With reference to the report, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board clarified that on inspecting the area, the concerned area engineer did not find any water leakage and that the pipes, cables and open drains belong to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.Technology clears blockageOn June 29, City Express had published a report, ‘Fixing drains at supersonic pace’. The report was regarding an overflowing drain near Jewels De Paragon at the MG Road and Kasturba Road junction. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board stated that the concerned area engineer had inspected the area and that the sewerage overflow had been cleared with the help of sewer jetting machine in the following evening itself.Quick actionWith reference to the standalone photograph that was published on June 23, ‘Water leaks’ on Dispensary road, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board has fixed the problem. The area inspector visited the spot and found that a four inch CI line joint was leaking. The leak was immediately plugged and the water supply was restored.Clearing the messIn accordance with a report published on June 1, ‘Jayanagar finds a spot for garbage’ in 9th Block Jayanagar, 22nd Cross. A BBMP officials who over looked the garbage and waste clearing for the area had mentioned that waste from many neighbouring roads was dumped in that particular spot. The assistant executive engineer for Jayanagar division had visited the area. He clarified that the BBMP is now clearing waste from the fruit and vegetable market in the vicinity and is also clearing house hold waste collected from four neighbouring roads on a daily basis.Taking ownershipThe New Indian Express had published a report on July 1, titled, ‘Of Sewerage stench, splash and seething commuters’ regarding an overflowing sewerage pipe. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board clarified that after the area inspector inspected the spot, it was found that the faulty pipe did not belong to the BWSSB, it instead belonged to St Joseph College. They further mentioned that a notice has been served to the occupants of the premises to rectify and replace the sewage pipelines.
