HYDERABAD: Though more than a year has passed since the resolution was passed to allow Citizen Service Centres to issue birth and death certificates, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials have not implemented the resolution passed by the corporation. The previous GHMC commissioner Sameer Sharma had entered into an agreement with e-Seva centres for delivering birth and death certificates but the process has become very time-consuming, with people having to wait for long to get important documents.A few upset standing committee members told Express that officials are not interested in implementing the resolution passed for helping the general public obtain the documents easily. Incidentally, before the e-Seva centres came up, GHMC used to deliver certificates through CSCs as they had an established network and required infrastructure.GHMC officials admitted there is a delay in implementing the resolution but said the process of issuing birth and death certificates through CSCs would start in a month or two. They added that the certificates can soon be obtained from both CSCs and e-Sevas.Meanwhile, Telugu Desam floor leader in GHMC, Singireddy Srinivas Reddy said many people are agonised with non-receipt of birth and death certificates on time. He requested the commissioner to look into the issue and adopt the old method of issuing birth certificates departmentally.
