Panchayat president M A John told Express that proposals have been submitted to the minister. The suggestions are expected to be considered at a meeting to be held in Thiruvananthapuram soon. “The project will revolve round the beautification of Chottanikkara. Temple-related pilgrimage tourism will be yet another focus,” said John.Emphasis will be laid on the improvement of traffic facilities. A by-pass will be developed through Chottanikkara and Irumpanam to reduce traffic congestion at Karingachira and Thiruvankulam. A 15-m wide road will also be developed from the railway station to the temple. Therefore, the pilgrims will have easy access to the railway station,” said John.He added that more arrangements will be made to facilitate tourists in Chottanikkara. A Yatri Nivas will be set up with the help of the KTDC. It will be helpful to tourists as they can avail of comfortable and easily accessible hotels at reasonable rates.
