BELLARY: The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC), headed by PV Jayakrishnan, which inspected the ongoing survey and demarcation work of disputed mining leases, as directed by the SC in Sandur and Hospet taluks, returned to Bangalore on Thursday.The team which landed at Hospet Monday night, visited the lease areas of HRG Mines, Shri Kumarswamy Mining Enterprise, VS Lad and Sons in Ramgarh region in Sandur taluk on Tuesday.The team visited Chougale and Laxminarayana Mines near Papinayakana halli limits on Wednesday and reviewed the survey work. The Central Empowered Committee members also visited the historical place Hampi on Wednesday.After reviewing the survey work, meeting officials and hearing grievances of mine owners, the team left for Bangalore on Thursday.The survey and demarcation work was launched on May 16 by three teams.The teams comprised officials from the Departments of Mines and Geology and Forest and personnel from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.
