New Delhi: The CBI is willing to re-investigate 1984 riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the Gurudwara Pul Bangash burning case.
The agency has filed a fresh reply before the Karkardooma court in Delhi with a plea to re-investigate the case against the Congress leader. He was acquitted in the case in 2014 but CBI's decision to re-investigate the matter came after three new witnesses emerged in the case.
Earlier, the investigating agency had told the court that the Congress leader was not involved in the riot and also failed to trace any witnesses in the case. Then Akali Dal moved to the court claiming that they can provide addresses of three new witnesses identified as Resham Singh, Chanchal Singh and Alam Singh.
Based on Akali's claim, CBI told the court on Tuesday that they are willing to re-investigate the case if their addresses were made available.
Earlier, the probe agency gave a clean chit to Tytler but the finding was challenged by a riot victim Lakhvinder Kaur. Kaur filed a petition through a senior advocate HS Phoolka urging the court to investigate the case and take action against Tytler on charges that he influenced witnesses and was involved in money laundering.
