HYDERABAD: YS Vijayalakshmi, honorary president of YSR Congress, has urged prime minister Manmohan Singh to direct the CBI to act in accordance with law while it investigates cases relating to Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In a five-page letter to the prime minister, she has appealed to him to insulate CBI from its political bosses as it goes about investigating cases.Vijayamma, recounting the instances of the CBI going “overboard’’ in Jagan Mohan Reddy and APIICEmaar MGF cases to please its political masters, said the investigation agency is living up to its dubious reputation of being the state instrument to mute political parties which are opposed to the ruling Congress.“The CBI has been working overtime to somehow tarnish the image of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy simply because his son Jagan Mohan Reddy defied the authority of the Congress and became the most popular leader in the state.’’ She said the CBI had shown Jagan, who never occupied any public office before May 2009 and who was never a minister either in the state or at the Centre, as accused number one.“There is no possibility of his signing any file,” she said, adding that the CBI was under pressure to target only Jagan.
