Delhi police have arrested a man who stabbed a woman in broad daylight in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar on Friday. A CCTV video of the incident went viral on social media, in which the accused can be seen attacking the woman with a knife four to five times.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Aman, a resident of the area who works as a cook in a paying guest accommodation.
The accused told the police that students in Mukherjee Nagar used to make fun of him and call him ‘crazy’.
He said that the woman also made fun of him, prompting him to pick up a knife from a nearby vegetable vendor and attack her in a fit of rage.
Fortunately, a passerby intervened promptly and the woman did not receive grievous injuries. She is reportedly to be out of danger now.
In the CCTV video of the incident, the accused can be seen running towards the woman. He pushed her to the ground before stabbing her with a knife for four to five times.

A passer-by on a two-wheeler tries to stop the accused and makes an effort to catch the accused man. However, the accused escapes the man and tries to attack the woman again, but is stopped by another person.
The man can then be seen trying to flee from the spot.
