Call to produce more electricity

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Electricity Officers’ Federation has called for increasing the domestic production of electricity.  In a statement here on Sunday, the federation said that domestic production will help the state to achieve the goal of total electrification and would create more job opportunities. The government should implement new projects to produce more electricity giving equal importance to environment and by taking the people into confidence.The power consumption in the state will rise from the current 3,100 MW to 6,000 MW in 2020. To meet the increasing demand, the state should give more emphasis tonon-conventional sources also, he said.
