Call to make Engg admissions purely on merit

KOCHI: The authorities of the School of Engineering and Technology (SCMS) have informed the state government that the admissions to engineering courses should be made purely on merit basis. In a statement G P C Nayar, the founder of SCMS Engineering College, has made his stand clear that the faculty and staff of all his institutions are selected purely on merit. Caste, creed and religion were never a criterion.  He also said the management of SCMS Group of Institutions never accepted any sort of capitation fee for the admission of any programme. He has already requested the State Entrance Commissioner to allot students to his engineering college purely on merit.
