Air Marshal R K Jolly, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command (SAC), on Monday stressed the need for renewed focus on team-building, training, grooming and mentoring of IAF’s ‘air warriors’ to prepare them for the next generation battlefield.
He also urged personnel to be ever-vigilant against threats to security posed by anti-national elements and terrorist groups. The Air Marshal was addressing the 80th Air Force Day celebrations at the SAC.
Additional air defence systems and aircraft are being inducted into the SAC, whose role in the southern peninsula is growing, the Air Marshal said. The SAC is also improving infrastructure, he said.
But the focus primarily should be on enhancing the capabilities of the ‘real enablers’ of this process, meaning the IAF personnel.
Various functions and programmes were organised for serving and retired IAF personnel and their families to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the IAF.
