BSA award for Konda Lakshman

Freedom fighter and former minister Konda Laxman Bapuji was honoured with  the Justice BSA Swamy Award-2012 for Social Justice at  justice BSA Swamy’s fourth death anniversary function organised by  the Justice BSA Swamy Memorial Trust here on Sunday.

Supreme Court  judge justice Jasti Chelameswar presented a memento and a cheque for Rs 25,000 to Bapuji. After receiving the award, Bapuji said, “I am overwhelmed by the presentation of the award. I had a long- time friendship with justice Swamy who had striven relentlessly for social justice. He supported and agitated for strict enforcement of reservation for backward class communities.

Swamy retained in him the spirit of social justice. He protected lawyers, district judges and judges of subordinate courts whenever the higher authorities of upper castes initiated actions injurious to them.’’

Justice Jasti Chelameswar said,  “Justice BSA Swamy was an inspiration to the present and future generations as his contribution to society in social justice is immeasurable.”
