Lucknow: The Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) on Sunday said it will observe the anniversary of Babri mosque demolition on December 6 by giving a memorandum to district magistrates concerned demanding punishment for the guilty.
"On December 6 the memorandum will be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav through district magistrates concerned demanding from them to expedite cases related to the Babri mosque demolition," BMAC convener Zafaryab Jilani said.
"The Centre will be asked to move an application in the Supreme Court for early hearing of appeals to decide land ownership of the site in Ayodhya," he said.
In the light of the Liberhan Commission report, conspiracy charge, which was dropped by CBI in 2003, should be included against the accused, Jilani said.
In the memorandum, the Chief Minister will be requested to ensure status quo on the site and direct police and administration to ensure peace on the day and take strict action against those who try to vitiate the atmosphere, he said.
Jilani appealed for peace in the state, and asked people to hold special prayers in mosques for an early decision by the court on the issue.
