KOCHI: Under the product promotion programme, Kerala Handicrafts Development Corporation is conducting a ‘Bengal Cotton Sari Utsav’ at the Kairali Handicraft Emporium on MG Road. The collection comes under the handwoven saris of India series. The exhibition flaunts saris like Jamdhani, Baluchuri, Beegumpur, Dangayil, Kantha, Phuliya, Hazarbhuti and Dhonakhali. Besides this, tusser and khadi silk saris are also available here. Most of these are beautifully woven with original silver threads, which makes them durable and long lasting. The raw materials are brought from West Bengal. There are saris that can be worn casually and also on special occasions, the prices ranging from Rs 4000 to 6000. The saris are named after the villages of West Bengal where they are woven. A 10 percent government rebate is available. The sale ends on July 9.
