BANGALORE: In its efforts to expedite the formation of the five residential layouts that were announced around the city, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is likely to initiate talks with the land owners, who would be losing their lands to Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout, to develop it along with Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, for which the State Government has already approved the compensation ranging from Rs 80 lakh to 1 crore that was mutually agreed by the BDA and the land owners. The BDA Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena said, “We are planning to invite the representatives of the land owners to discuss the compensation for the land that would be acquired for Shivram Karanth Layout, as we are planning to develop it along with Nada Prabhu Kempegowda Layout and Arkavathy Layout. Unless we arrive at a consensus with the land owners over the compensation, it is very difficult to avoid situations like that happened in Arkavathy Layout.” The BDA has issued notifications to acquire 3,456 acres in and around seventeen villages between Doddabhallpur and Hesarghatta roads and has finished hearing over 12,000 objections filed by the land owners against the acquisition. The BDA has already offered 40 per cent of the developed land as compensation to the land owners, besides offering monetary compensation to the land owners who do not want to take the developed land as compensation. The BDA is yet to fix a compensation for the land that would be acquired for Shivramkaranth Layout, in which it is planning to form 60,000 residential sites. As the State Government is yet to clear the confusions over the overlapping of the land acquisition notices issued by the BDA and the specially empowered committee, the decision on the formation of the other three layouts,Kyasambahalli Changala-raya Reddy Layout, S Nijalingappa Layout and D Devraj Urs Layout. would be taken at a later stage.
