BANGALORE: Commuting via ‘‘Trinity Circle has now become a stressful drive thanks to the potholes and the battered condition of the road. The commuters find it hard to deal with the chaos during the peak hours. The broken stretch is spread over a distance of five metres.Over the last few months, this particular stretch has been repaired a number of times but, in vain. At the moment the craters have been filled with sand and stones. However, the sand fails the purpose as, when it rains, the area becomes a mess.Half the road is blocked near the signal, making traffic movement slow. Apart form this, the potholes remains open which makes it difficult for people to pass through. The foul smell emanating from the drain close by only adds to their woes.Due to the half hearted attempt by the civic bodies, the commuters complaint that it gets them delayed.Opposite Lido Mall lies a stretch of uneven road with big potholes that are yet to be repaired. The Palike Joint Commissioner East, Shiva Shanker said that the road was damaged by the BMRCL while they were working on the metro. After the work is done they are supposed to fix the damage. He also added, ‘‘The damage near Trinity Circle is caused by the BWSSB while they were fixing a leakage in one of the underground pipes.Due to inter-organisational conflicts the work has been delayed. According to the BBMP official, the problem will be fixed within the next 48 hours. As far as the condition of the road near the mall is concerned, it is the responsibility of the BMRCL to get it sorted out.” The BMRCL’s public relations Officer, Chavan said, ‘‘It is well known that we will fix the road once we are done with the construction work. The area below the Trinity metro station has been asphalted and similarly the others will be done as well.” According to Shiva the work around Trinity Circle is held up due to the confusion between the BWSSB, BMRCL and the BBMP. Thanks to the mess created by the authorities, the ones to suffer are the commuters.Raul Jain a commuter said, ‘‘It adds to the traffic problems. As a result one ends up loosing a lot of time.Apart from this the uneven roads can also cause accidents especially during the night.’’
