Bandit queen set for UP ballot battle
Ex-dacoit, Seema Parihar has been appointed by the Indian Justice Party as its National Secretary.

New Delhi: Phoolan Devi and Abu Salem have done it so how can other ex-cons be far behind.

Former dacoit and actress, Seema Parihar, is all set to take the political path to fame. She has been appointed by the Indian Justice Party (IJP) as its National Secretary and may contest the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls against none other than veteran BSP leader, Mayawati.

"Parihar will not only be the star campaigner for our party, but could also contest the elections against Mayawati," IJP President Udit Raj was quoted by PTI as saying.

He added that Seema Parihar's "leadership qualities" would only help strengthen the party.

This, from the same party that is dead set against former underworld don, Abu Salem contesting the elections

However, Udit Raj explained this away by telling PTI that no similarities could be drawn between the two as Parihar was abducted at a tender age whereas Salem was a "national enemy".

"She did not become a criminal by choice. She too has a right to live a civilised life," he told PTI.

And what's more, the ex-bandit queen is more than confident that she will win if she stands against Mayawati.

Parihar told PTI, "The BSP supremo wants to be the only powerful female leader in the state. It is now time to bring her corrupt rule to an end."

What's your reaction?
