Around 400 people were on Thursday arrested during the day-long Ranchi bandh called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in protest against the Tuesday's violence at Silgain that left one dead and several injured over a land dispute.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said the bandh supporters were arrested for flouting Section 144 under CRPC. They were later released in the evening.
He said the day witnessed two minor clashes that left three persons injured in nearby areas of Silgain village under Chano block of Ranchi district where prohibitory orders had been imposed after people from two communities clashed over a land dispute.
The police superintendent said the situation there was brought under control quickly following prompt action by the deployed security forces.
