BANGALORE: The state government is mulling to set up an Authority exclusively to conduct Mysore Dasara.Addressing the media here on Monday, Medical Education Minister S A Ramadas said that the authority was felt would tackle the problems being faced by district authorities while conducting the Dasara festival which attracts people from worldwide. “ The authority will also take care of tourism aspects.” A proposal in this regard is already before the CM. “We want to conduct Mysore Dasara next year through the Authority,” he said. Ramadas said that welcome arches would be erected on five state highways leading to city to mark the 100th year of Mysore Palace. He added that the government has decided to notify all buildings with heritage value in Mysore and surrounding places for preservation.Heritage BuildingsThe minister said that the government has decided to notify all buildings with heritage value in Mysore and surrounding places so that they can be preserved as historic monuments.“The process of identification of such buildings has already started and soon we will notify them,” he said, while adding that the valuation of noted writer RK Narayan’s house was being done. “Once it is over, the government will take possession of the house and preserve it,” the minister added.
