Chennai: In yet another case of suicide in the Army, a 22-year-old cadet committed suicide at the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA) on Sunday morning.

Nair had joined OTA only on October nine and was hospitalised between October 19 and 29 after a fall in the swimming pool, the sources said.
During hospitalisation, Nair had undergone endoscopy as he complained of pain in kidney and stomach but was discharged from the hospital as the doctors found nothing wrong.
In the course of his stay in the Academy, Nair had conveyed to his father and brother a desire not to pursue the course but was advised by his father to await a decision his till arrival in the Academy to see him.
When Azad Nair's father Padmanabhan Nair, a retired IAF surgent, reached the OTA at around 0900 hrs (IST) on Sunday to see his son, Azad had already committed suicide.
Even on Saturday, Nair had reported sick and had been advised by doctors to take a day off. The cadet had his bed tea and breakfast as usual and the staff had reported him as being alright.
The authorities have instituted a court of inquiry into the death of the cadet.
