Arms manufacturing unit busted in UP, 3 arrested

The Uttar Pradesh police have busted a cartridge manufacturing unit and three persons have been arrested at Kairana in Shamli district.

Acting on a tip-off that some people were supplying cartridges here, three arms suppliers were arrested yesterday and 170 cartridges recovered from their possession at Kairana town, SP Anil Kumar Rai told media persons here on Monday.

The three accused have been identified as Irshad, Yakoob and Akber, police said. During interrogation they revealed that the cartridges were supplied from a Mawana manufacturing unit to Kairana in Shamli district, they said.  Police also raided house in Mawana town of Meerut district and recovered 35 cartridges and machines.
