HYDERABAD: “Abaddhalakoru (liar)”, “rowdy palana (regime of rowdies)”, “avineeti chakravarti (emperor of corruption)”, “bandipotu dongalu (dacoits)”... If you think these are the titles of Tollywood flicks, you are mistaken. These are the choicest epithets being flung by politicians against rivals in the ongoing bypoll campaign.Leading the rhetorical fest is chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has taken to attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy without mincing words: “backstabber” and “liar” are his preferred words for the Kadapa MP.The CM is not sparing Chandrababu Naidu or K Chandrasekhar Rao either. In his dictionary, the TDP chief is “all-free babu”. PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana joins Kiran Kumar in crowning Naidu the “emperor of corruption.” Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi too has joined the chorus of abuse, slinging filmi dialogues at Jagan. The TDP boss gives it back as good as he gets it. He calls the Congress a “party of thieves” not to be confused with the YSRCP, which is a “party of bandicoots”. Naidu even describes the Kiran Kumar Reddy regime as “demon’s rule”, again not to be confused with the “rowdy rule” that Jagan will bring if he ever seized power. Naidu’s other big target is Chiranjeevi: “The man who set up a party to bring about social justice merged it with the Congress because justice was done to him. But what happened to social justice for the weaker sections?” he asks.Interestingly, Naidu and Jagan interpret the speeding up of the investigation by the CBI differently. The TDP chief sees a conspiracy behind the investigation hatched by the Congress and YSRCP. He says the ruling party intensified the CBI probe only to help Jagan gain public sympathy. On the other hand, Jagan alleges that it is the Congress and the TDP that are hand-in-glove, using the investigation to eliminate him from the political scene.
