THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central laws which are an impediment to the construction sector which has immense job potential in Kerala, are grossly hurting the workers and the development process, INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan has said. Inaugurating a dharna  organised by the district committee of Kerala Construction Workers Congress here on Monday, he said that the former LDF Government had also harmed the workers, based on their political affiliations, by including them in the APL list.Chandrasekharan said that the INTUC is committed to oppose all laws which areagainst the interests of the working class, irrespective of which government is in power.  He said the working class as a whole through their timely intervention had been able to defeat the ulterior designs of the bureaucracy, who were instrumental in putting bottlenecks to the well-being of the labourers from time to time. Any amendments introduced in the construction sector should be drafted to make it practical, especially in places like  Kerala where the population density is high.  INTUC state president G Subodhan, M A Vahid MLA, DCC president M Jerome, Vithura Sasi, G Jayaprakash and U Vinil Kumar, among others, also spoke.
