SANGAREDDY: Tension prevailed at Tellapur village in Ramachandrapuram mandal following the desecration of Ambedkar statue by miscreants on Tuesday night. Dalit organisations staged protests on Wednesday against the desecration. Deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Patancheru MLA Nandeeswar Goud and senior police officials rushed to the spot.The deputy chief minister asked the superintendent of police PJ Victor to take stringent action against the miscreants, irrespective of their social status and political affiliations. He condemned the incident and said the law should be amended to the effect that people defiling statues of national leaders get severe punishment.Meanwhile, TRS MP Vijayashanti, who visited the spot, expressed unhappiness over the functioning of the state government and demanded that the miscreants should be brought to book.
