KOCHI: The three post-graduate students of Maharaja’s College had a tough time making a short film in Konkani language. Presenting it for a director like Major Ravi was a greater challenge. On Friday, U Madhu, Sreenivasan and Afsal, final year PG students in Islamic History, screened their short film ‘Tiffin Box’ for a selected group of audience at the college auditorium.“As Konkani is my mother tongue I was happy to pen the script for the movie. The Kerala Konkani Academy encouraged and helped us make the film,” said Madhu. The movie of 13-minute duration presents the life of a youngster, Hari. The story presents Hari’s aspirations and finally his shattered dreams. The hard realities of life are presented through the film.Major Ravi, who was present at the screening, said, “Cinema doesn’t need a language. It communicates to the audience from a different platform.” ‘Tiffin Box’ is the first campus short film made in Konkani language in the state. “'Tiffin Box’ is something related to life. The film is more sensitising. Cinema has to reflect the life around us and the youngsters have been successful in capturing it. I’m so happy to be in Maharaja’s college which has gifted a number of talents to Malayalam cinema. I hope that the college will be able to produce more talents like those who made ‘Tiffin Box,” Major Ravi told ‘City Express’.Kerala Konkani Academy member Payyannur Ramesh Pai, Maharaja’s College principal Viswambharan and Islamic History department head Jayadevan were present at the screening.
