A total of 75,000 tickets were put up for sale for the racing weekend at the one lakh-capacity BIC.

Greater Noida: The Indian Grand Prix organisers said around 60,000 people came to watch the Formula 1 race at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) here on Sunday and they were happy with the turnout even though it was 5,000 less than 2012.

A whopping 95,000 watched the inaugural race in 2011. "We are happy with the turnout. It met our expectations," Jaypee Group spokesperson Askari H Zaidi told IANS at the BIC.

"The grandstand was almost full towards the end of the race. Many people reached the venue late as they got stuck in traffic," he added.

A total of 75,000 tickets were put up for sale for the racing weekend at the one lakh-capacity BIC.

Doubts remain over the event's future with F1 skipping its India date next season.
