KOCHI: In order to mark the 50th Anniversary of ‘Men-Tsee-Khang’, the Tibetan medical and astrological institute of Dalai Lama in India is conducting a two-day long exhibition and free medical and astrological consultation on Tibetan medicine and astrological calculation in the city. The event will be inaugurated by Justice VR Krishna Iyer at 10am at Ashirbhavan, Kacherippadi on Tuesday. R&D officer of Nagarjuna Ayurvedic Dr V Madhavachandran, cartoonist Yesudasan, director of ‘ashirbhavan’ Fr. Joseph Thannikkottuand, the chief medical officer of Bangalore Men-Tsee-Khang Dr Dorjee Rapten Neshar are few among the resource persons who will be speaking at the event.There will also be an exhibition of ancient Tibetan medical ‘thangkas’ or scroll paintings based on sacred medical texts and some rare photos from Chinese occupied Tibet and from exile. The photo exhibition will showcase the development stages of ‘Men-Tsee-Khang’ in exile, from its humble beginning to a full-fledged institute of Tibetan medicine and Tibetan astrology in India Its progress and advancement, research, publications, traditional therapies and astrological paintings, skin and health care products, and its health care services practiced for thousands of years in Tibet and the Himalayan regions will also be showcased.One of the main highlight of the event will be the presence of a Tibetan astrologer from the Tibetan medical and astrological Institute, Dharamshala, the seat of the Tibetan government in exile.
