KOCHI: Five Keralites among seven died in a fire mishap in Riyadh on Saturday. The deceased are Ajith, 26, son of Ananthan, Ponnath House, Azhikode in Kodungallur, and Abdul Rahim, 29, son of K M Kabir, Kandarakode House, Vennur in Pazhayannur (both from Thrissur), Sulaiman Karulayi, and Ahmad Kabir, both natives of Nilambur, and Thomas Mathew alias Shaji, 35, Chenkkilathukuttiyil, Umbarnadu, Mavelikkara.
Thomas Mathew had been working in Riyadh for the last two years. He was an employee in the supermarket. He had returned back to Riyadh on June 15 after spending a twomonth vacation in Mavelikara.He is survived by wife Feeba, children Shefin, 9, and Sherin, 5. According to initial reports the fire broke out because of shortcircuit.
