4 kids drown in well near Dharmapuri

DHARMAPURI: In a tragic incident, four children drowned in an agricultural well at Pappireddipatti near here. The Standard VIII students aged 13 years were classmates in a government school at Pappireddipatti. Sampath, son of Babu, his friends Purshothman, son of Kalyanasundaram, Sreen- ivasan, son of Sekar, and Satishkumar, son of Murugan, were residing at the Mudaliar Street. Saturday being a holiday, all the four went out in the evening to an agricultural well situated on the outskirts of the village. While fishing, Sampath slipped into the well. On seeing this, the rest three jumped in to rescue him. But, all the four drowned. Apparently, none of them knew how to swim.   When the children failed to return home, parents launched a search. Around 9 pm, the villagers found the bodies in the well.
