272 pattas issued in a day in Kanchi

KANCHEEPURAM: The Kancheepuram taluk office wore a festive look on the concluding day of the 13 day long jamabandi (settlement of revenue accounts) as Uthiramerur MLA Walajabad Ganeshan and his Kancheepuram counterpart Somasundaram gave away a record 272 pattas in all on Wednesday.
As Kancheepuram taluk has almost equal number of village panchayats falling under both Kancheepuram and Uthiramerur Assembly constituencies, the MLAs chose to settle separately the longstanding grievances of the people they represent for the sake of greater convenience. A total of 3,141 applications were received in the current jamabandi, Ganeshan said.
