HYDERABAD: Musheerabad police arrested two persons who had stolen an autorickshaw. Police also seized a bike from them. They said that the two belonged to the Suri gang, which was involved in more than 30 thefts in different parts in the city. Inspector Mohammad Riyazuddin stated that the special crime team arrested the duo and they had been absconding for the past three years. The accused are 25-year-old Gopi Simhal and 23-year-old Cheruku Sravan, residents of Achayyanagar. They had stolen an autorickshaw in Musheerabad along with two others in 2009. The other two accused Dasari Surendra and Pamakunta Naresh were arrested on August 16, 2009 and after trial they were awarded two years imprisonment.Giving details police said, “on a tip off, Musheerabad police led by Mohammad Riyazuddin laid a trap at Metro Café and arrested Gopi and Sravan who were travelling on a stolen bike without a number plate. On interrogation, they confessed that they had stolen the bike at Ramnagar. The present notorious Suri gang consist of six members, who were involved in more than 30 robbery cases and 14 vehicle-lifting cases. Four members of Suri gang including Suri were arrested by the same team about ten days back and remanded to judicial custody,” he added. The modus operandi of the gang members is that they choose lonely persons during night give them a good thrashing and rob them. The gang was also involved in car-jacking cases in Chilkalaguda and Afzalgunj.
