HYDERABAD: Justice G Krishna Mohan Reddy of the AP High Court on Thursday granted bail to two of the accused in the attack on MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.The two accused to be released on bail are Mohd Pehelwan and Bahadur Ali Khan. The judge however refused bail to two other accused- Saif Bin Hussain Yafai and Mohammad Ameeruddin for their direct involvement in carrying out the offence.Petition Against Arbitrary Land Allotment ClosedJustice G Rohini of the AP High Court on Thursday closed a writ petition against large scale arbitrariness by the government in allotting land for Vambay house sites in Visakhapatnam. The petitioners Narrayanamma and others complained that the government was likely to evict them from their houses in the area. According to them, they were assured pucca houses in the area where they were living under the JNNURM scheme. The also complained that they were about 2,800 applicants for 2,332 houses and alleged that eligible people were not being considered. But the additional advocate general informed the court that the apprehension was baseless.Cricket Association Allowed to Announce Poll Result Justice Nooty Ram Mohan Rao of the AP High Court permitted the Andhra Cricket Association to announce the results of elections held under the observation of the managing director of Sports Authority of AP. It may be recalled that the judge, while dealing with a petition filed by N Venkat Rao had directed the July 13 elections to be held under a court observer and the proceedings to be videographed.The judge went through the report of the observer and felt that prima facie the action of the election Officer in receiving certain nominations could not be faulted.HC Dismisses 10 Petitions Against River BridgeJustice CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the AP High Court dismissed a batch of writ petitions and consequently cleared the deck for the 4 lane-overbridge on river Godavari from Kovvuru to Rajamundry.The judge dealt with petitions complaining that the alignment of the road was improper. The judge looked into the matter and on being satisfied that the decision of the authorities did not warrant judicial interference, dismissed the batch of 10 writ petitions filed by Gorantly Jhansi, wife of former minister Butchiah Chowdary.Writ Petitioned Adjourned by 10 DaysA division bench of the AP High Court comprising Justice V Eswariah and Justice B Chandra Kumar adjourned by ten days a writ petition challenging provisions of the Indian constitution in the context of the mass resignations of Telangana MPs and MLAs. Y. Venugopala Reddy, a resident of the city, challenged articles 101 and 190 of the constitution which provided for resignation of elected members. He said that once a person is elected to Parliament or state legislature for a period of five years, he must not be permitted to resign. When it was pointed out that acceptance or refusal of the resignation is a subject left to the Speaker, the counsel pointed out that the petition was on the constitutional position and not the action of the speaker.The matter was however adjourned at the instance of the petitioner.HC Grants Eamcet Eligibility to CandidateJustice Vilas Afzalpurkar of the AP High Court on Thursday admitted a writ petition challenging the decision of the EAMCET convener regarding qualification of a candidate for medical entrance. The eligibility is based on the pass marks which is 50 per cent of the total marks. Dharni, a candidate, scored 79 out of 159 and was disqualified. But she contended that a fraction over .5 must be treated as 1 and there fore her percentage of 49.6 must be treated as 50 per cent and thus eligible for a seat. The judge granted an interim order to treat her as an eligible candidate.
